 |
Robert McMahon (our business owner) was born in Sydney, Australia into a seafaring family. His father was a Bosun who died when Robert was aged 3 and his grandfather was a Master Mariner.
Robert’s stepfather was a commercial fisherman so he had a very strong connection with the water when growing up. He went to local schools at Newport and Woy Woy, New South Wales where he won an award for Citizenship.
|
|
Technical Experience: He served a 5-year apprenticeship as a Fitter & Turner before going off to sea as a Marine Engineer. Robert then studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of New South Wales and followed a seagoing career, trading worldwide and rising to the rank of Chief Engineer and then Superintendent Engineer in the both the Blue Star Shipping Line and Austasia Line London and Singapore. He then became Fleet Engineer for the Angliss Fishing Fleet of 27 Prawn Trawlers as well as a Mother Ship and 3 Processing Works in Northern Australia.
Robert’s career continued on as Ship Manager of a group of vessels in the Australian National Line before owning and operating Vagabond Cruises, a Charter Boat operation on Sydney Harbour. All of his life, his activities have kept him close to the sea and he appreciates the power of the natural forces of nature which are available to be harnessed for the good of mankind.
At age 18, Robert was called up for National Service and was drafted as Engine Room sailor into the Navy. Beyond National Service, he rose to Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserve and over some time he undertook a number of engineering assignments on Australian naval ships and ship repair bases.
Robert is a Chartered Engineer and is also a Fellow of the prestigious, world-wide Institute of Marine Engineers, Science & Technology. He has published papers on the treatment of Marine Fuels and spoken at Conferences on improving the fuel efficiency and energy efficiency of marine vessels.
The Environment: He is passionate about the preservation of the Environment for the good of mankind. With his engineering training blending with his love of nature, he has now made it his mission to help bring clean, non-polluting solar electrical energy to the 2-billion people in the world who do not now have access to electricity.
Solar Systems: To help achieve this purpose, Robert has created an information website www.mrsolarenergy.com and to help bring solar electricity to the world, he has created www.mrsolarpanel.com and he is now working on www.solarpowerworldwide.com to help foster and bring on major renewable energy projects in all kinds of situations, industries, businesses and communities.
Energy Savings: In 2008, Robert attained a Certificate in Energy Management.
He is a practical, hands on person with an analytical mind who helps his clients find the best and most practical solutions to their problems and issues. He has a lifetime of experience in the design and operation of all sizes and types of power plants, systems and equipment including boilers, diesels, generators, pumps compressors, and many types of industrial and associated equipment.
Robert is familiar with a wide variety of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and he believes in using passive heating and cooling methods where possible to reduce energy consumption. He understands electrical systems and the needs of large and small commercial buildings, offices, hotels, apartment blocks, institutions and the like to efficiently manage all energy consumption. He is familiar with renewable energy solutions including the latest photovoltaic systems and solar thermal systems.
Acquisition of Energy Conservation: Robert recently broadened his horizons and acquired Erwin Tischler’s long standing engineering consultancy named Energy Conservation, who for the last 8-years have pioneered energy saving techniques such as Energy Audits and other energy saving resources for businesses throughout Australia. The main services are ONSITE and ONLINE Energy Audits that show businesses how to substantially reduce their energy bills for electricity and gas.
This consultancy service now ideally compliments Robert’s mission for bringing environmentally friendly, energy saving resources to Australian businesses. This is particularly so for the economical, newly developed, ONLINE energy audit which equally suits metropolitan and remotely-located businesses who otherwise would have no opportunity of availing themselves of such cutting-edge technology. See: www.energyconservation.com.au [ONLINE Energy Audits]. The new online service is now Australia’s first ever commercial, online Energy Auditing system, and it suits any size business, LARGE or small.

Erwin Tischler is the previous owner of Energy Conservation.
He was born in Austria and migrated to Australia as a very young boy with his mother and father and three brothers. Erwin completed all of his schooling in Sydney, NSW. He married an Australian girl and is proud of his four children + eight grandchildren. Erwin is now retired but remains as our independent consultant and mentor relating to energy efficiency matters.
He is a Cert. Electrical Engineer (Grad. Granville TAFE College, NSW 1972) and an Electrician (Lic EA 39404 - Granville TAFE College, NSW 1963). He has over 30 years of experience in engineering business services such as electrical switchgear design, electrical estimating, lighting design and electrical building services design and building maintenance management for all types of commercial and government buildings.
|
|
Erwin has also specialized in energy conservation matters since 1995 and was a Senior Energy Consultant with the Energy Management Unit of the NSW Department of Public Works for many years. This is where he gained energy savings experience on large State Government facilities such as Hospitals, Gaols, TAFE Colleges, Office Buildings, Police Stations, Agriculture Department, high schools and primary schools etc. For a long period he was also the NSW Client Energy Manager for the Department of Education and Training (i.e. all of NSW’s 100 Colleges of TAFE & all 3,000 Schools).
Erwin also gained experience in training many Energy Managers and with the writing of energy saving articles for books and technical magazines etc.
Erwin took that considerable experience with him to start his own Energy Efficiency Consultancy (Energy Conservation) in 2000 where he has since gained experience on many Government, commercial and industrial facilities.
|
|
Experience with Energy Conservation Projects
Erwin prides himself on the huge number of residential, commercial, industrial, government and educational facilities to whom he has shown how to permanently reduce their energy bills. Much of his energy auditing work over the last few years has been through referral by Integral Energy and EnergyAustralia, who are the two major Electricity Providers for the Sydney metropolitan area, for whom he supplied energy audits directly to their many electricity customers.
His energy saving products and services over the last 10-years now have the capacity for continually saving his past clients millions of dollars in energy costs annually. The energy savings also mean that tens of millions of kilograms of green house gases have now been cleared from our environment to help slow down the onset of the greenhouse effect.
